Linda Powers

LindaSullyLinda Powers was born in Boston, Massachusetts and raised in Brookline but her winter weekends were spent skiing in New Hampshire and summers were spent on Cape Cod where Linda learned to scuba dive and swam competitively, ultimately winning her varsity letter on the Brookline swim team.  Family events were festive occasions with an international flair of friends and family from all over Europe as Linda’s father, a commercial artist, was from Czechoslovakia and her mom, a mathematician, from Sweden.

After graduation from Bunker Hill Community College Linda entered the mutual fund industry and progressed in the advertising and marketing departments of Eaton-Vance, Colonial Funds and Fidelity Investments.

In 1988 she launched Powers Design a creative services and advertising firm that specializes in graphic and web design, print management, advertising,  and both social media and traditional marketing for a range of clients from well-known names to small start-ups.

For 26 years Linda and her husband Paul (a psychologist and author) lived in Wellesley, Mass with an evolving roster of cats and dogs (usually boxers like Sully with whom she’s pictured.) Five years ago Linda and Paul gave away the snow blower and bought a home in Englewood Isles.

Linda has always maintained an active pro-bono component to her business such as committee work for The Second Step, for survivors of domestic violence, Brookview House, helping homeless and at risk families break the cycle of homelessness and poverty, and the Greater Boston Employer Advisory Board to the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission  where her work was recognized with Citations from the Massachusetts State Senate and the Massachusetts House of Representatives for assisting individuals with disabilities enter or re-enter the job market. She has mentored a series of young women into the graphic design field and was one of only two women invited to join the Management Corps for the Emerging East that traveled to the then-USSR to help educate managers in the methods and techniques of a free market economy.

She is co-founder of the Diversity Consortium, helping businesses develop their brands and build businesses by recognizing, valuing and effectively communicating the competitive edge represented by ethnic and cultural diversity in today’s global marketplace.

Linda, a gourmet cook, enjoys using and canning fresh vegetables from her own garden. She and Paul enjoy traveling, swimming, boating, fishing, quahoging, swimming, reading, golf and our spectacular Gulf Coast sunsets!
