BPW is not like any other organization.
This organization was founded in 1919 and is unique in that it has a long history of advocating for women and is still passionately and effectively engaged in assuring equal rights, equal pay and equal opportunities in the workforce. Every working woman has benefited from the efforts of this organization in Education Foundation, Scholarships, Public Policy, Equal Pay and Lobbying for Women's Rights.

Bobbie Marquis, the featured speaker, is a local business woman and BPW member. Two years ago, she lost her 23 year old son, who at the time was a senior at the University of Connecticut. The death of her son propelled Bobbie on a search to understand death and dying and specifically how to recover from profound loss. Her's was a message of faith, hope and recovery.

"Grief and Recovery" was the topic of our February 2010 meeting. Loss is something that every human being will experience. How we deal with it, and what we learn from it strongly influences our quality of life.
